Monday, 04/17/17

Furnari – Library

·          We will begin working on our second map region of the United States, the West.  Students will fill out a map to study with, and will be quizzed on it on Friday.  They will also feel out an information chart for each state, which includes the origin of the state’s name, an interesting fact and more.

Into the Woods:

·          Begin watching Act 2 of Into the Woods, pausing to clarify and discuss.

·          Students will complete a packet ensuring their comprehension of the continuation of this story.

·          Review Scenes 4-5 Questions.

Work Stations

·          Work on Lit. Circle Bloom’s Ball Project, due Tuesday, April 25th.

·          Work on Missing Assignments.

·          Complete April Istation Assessment.

HW: Read for 30 minutes. 

 

Tuesday, 04/18/17

·          We will discuss what life in New York City would have been like for new immigrants.  We will look at tenement housing, as well as how new immigrants were treated and the discrimination they may have been met with.

Into the Woods:

·          Complete watching Act 2 of Into the Woods, pausing to clarify and discuss.

·          Students will complete a packet ensuring their comprehension of the continuation of this story.

Work Stations

·          Work on Lit. Circle Bloom’s Ball Project, due Tuesday, April 25th.

·          Work on Missing Assignments.

·          Complete April Istation Assessment.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Wednesday, 04/19/17

·          We will watch the next section of the documentary America:  The Story of Us, which is called “Boom”.  It will look at the effect of oil on America, and the Prohibition era among other things.  As we watch, we will pause to discuss.

·          Students will write in their Writer’s Notebooks, addressing a prompt where they must choose one pet peeve to focus on.  We will talk about having a main point and supporting details.

Work Stations

·          Work on Lit. Circle Bloom’s Ball Project, due Tuesday, April 25th.

·          Work on Missing Assignments.

·          Complete April Istation Assessment.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Thursday, 04/20/17

·          Students will review the Greek Gods Mythology BrainPop video, and take notes on the major symbols the gods are associated with, and their relationships to each other.  Students will also write their name in Greek and decorate it with symbols.

·          Students will receive their first Speech assignment—to give a speech about their biggest Pet Peeve.  We will discuss how to outline a speech, choosing main points and important details.  We will also discuss the mechanics of speech giving.

Work Stations

·          Work on Lit. Circle Bloom’s Ball Project, due Tuesday, April 25th.

·          Work on Missing Assignments.

·          Complete April Istation Assessment.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Friday, 04/21/17

Weiman – Library

We will read and annotate “Origin of the Seasons,” a famous Greek myth.  We will discuss theme, plot diagram, and characterization.  Students will answer comprehension questions. 

Work Stations

·          Work on Lit. Circle Bloom’s Ball Project, due Tuesday, April 25th.

·          Work on Pet Peeve Speech.

·          Work on Missing Assignments.

·          Complete April Istation Assessment.

Furnari – Library

·         I will introduce the Wordly Wise Lessons 17-20 Crossword Puzzle.

·         We will begin working on our first map region of the United States, the Southwest.  Students will fill out a map to study with, and will be quizzed on it on Thursday.

Into the Woods: We will:

·         Act Out Scene 3.

Work Stations

·         Complete Scene 3 Questions.

·         Work on I-Station Assessment.

·         Work on WW Review Puzzle.

·         Work on Lit. Circle Assignment #2, due Thursday, April 13th.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.  Lit. Circle Assignment #2 due Thursday.

 

Tuesday, 04/11/17

·         We will first discuss reasons why people began to emigrate from their home countries to the U.S. in the early 1900s.  Students will begin working on a web quest where they will walk through the different steps on an immigrant’s journey through Ellis Island.  We will discuss challenges they would have been met with as they began to settle in the United States.

Into the Woods: We will:

·         Correct Scene 3 Questions.

·         Read through Scenes 4-5.

Work Stations

·         Begin Scenes 4-5 Questions.

·         Work on WW Review Puzzle.

·         Work on Lit. Circle Assignment #2, due Thursday, April 13th.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.  Lit. Circle Assignment #2 due Thursday.

 

Wednesday, 04/12/17

Into the Woods: We will:

·         Review Scenes 4-5 Questions.

Work Stations

·         Complete U.S. Map Quiz #1—The Southwest.

·         Work on Lit. Circle Bloom’s Ball Project, due Tuesday, April 25th.
