Monday, 3/21/16

Weiman—Art

Power Hour: Math

·         Students will write a one page paper about their Spring Break.  They will be practicing creating “inferencing” practice for their fellow students, meaning they will describe what they did and peer reviewers will have to infer what/where they are describing.

·         We will continue working on assigned STAAR Review Exercises – “Shoemaker.”

Work Stations

    • Continue STAAR Review Exercises.
    • Work on Lit. Circle Assignment, due 03/24.
    • Read quietly.

HW: Read for 30 minutes, and work on Lit. Circle Assignment.

 

Tuesday, 3/22/16

Furnari—Art, Library  

Power Hour: Math

·         We will continue working on assigned STAAR Review Exercises – Finish & Review “The Elves and the Shoemaker”.

·         Students will work in small groups to create posters that review objectives/genre strategies for Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, and Drama.  They will each present to the class.

·         We will begin working on a STAAR Release Packet—a non-fiction passage about a road trip, and a drama.

Work Stations

o   Continue STAAR Review Exercises.

o   Work on Lit. Circle Assignment, due 03/24.

o   Read quietly.

HW: Read for 30 minutes, and work on Lit. Circle Assignment.

 

Wednesday, 3/23/16

Power Hour: Reading

·         Students will begin working on a midterm quiz that has them review many words.  They will be able to use their word lists.

·         We will begin working on a textbook scavenger hunt, that covers the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Students will learn about the railroad, immigration, labor union, inventions and more.

Work Stations

    • Continue STAAR Review Exercises.
    • Work on Textbook Scavenger Hunt.
    • Work on Wordly Wise Review.
    • Work on Lit. Circle Assignment.
    • Read quietly.

HW: Read for 30 minutes, and work on Lit. Circle Assignment, due 03/24.

 

 

Thursday, 3/24/16

Weiman—Library

Power Hour: Reading

·         We will continue working on assigned STAAR Review Exercises – Finish & Review “A Remarkable Road Trip” and “Lights Out”.  Students will then begin working on “Carl is on the Case”, and “An American Legend”, depending on what they need more practice in.

·         We will review their Wordly Wise midterm quiz, and other words they may need to be reminded of.

Work Stations

o   Continue STAAR Review Exercises – Drama and Non-Fiction.

o   Work on Lit. Circle Assignment.

o   Work on Textbook Scavenger Hunt.

o   Read quietly.

HW: Read and rest.  STAAR Math: Tuesday, March 29th. STAAR Reading: Wednesday, March 30th.

Friday, 3/25/16

No School—Spring Holiday
