This week, we will:

 

Monday, 2/9/15

Furnari—Library

Harlem Ambassadors’ Comedy Basketball Assembly: 8:30-9:30 a.m.

·         Pass out new reading log.

·         Students will work on Grammar skills as related to IOWA.

Workstation Groups

·         Work on Non-fiction reading practice (Motivation Reading: “Forecasting the Senses” or Kamico: “Crabs”), specifically focusing on organization pattern of the text, and making logical connections between texts.

·         Work on Lit. Circle #2 Questions.

·         Read independently to self.

HW:  Read 30 minutes & log it. Work on Lit. Circle Questions (due Mon. 2/16).

Tuesday, 2/10/15

Reading DLA

8:00 am-12:00 p.m.

Magnet: 2:00-2:45 p.m.

·         Review “The Slavery Compromise”, a map skills packet from the week prior.

·         As time permits, begin discussing an excerpt from a slave narrative compared to what students already have heard about slavery.

·         Complete a Notes Organizer for students to reflect on what they have read.

HW:  Read 30 minutes & log it.  Work on Lit. Circle Questions (due Mon. 2/16).

Wednesday, 2/11/15

·         Students will work on Grammar skills as related to IOWA.

·         ITW Jr. – Together, read Scene 3 & Begin Scene 3 Questions.

Workstation Groups

·         Correct Reading DLA with students as needed.  Review answers.

·         Work on Scene 3 Questions.

·         Work on Lit. Circle #2 Questions.

·         Read independently to self.

HW:  Read 30 minutes & log it.  Work on Lit. Circle Questions (due Mon. 2/16).

Thursday, 2/12/15

Weiman – Library

·         Students will work on Grammar skills as related to IOWA.

·         Together, review ITW Jr. Scene 3

·         Review Scene 3 Questions

·         Begin the Civil War, and also discuss students’ notes from the slave narrative as it related to reasons why the Civil War started.

·         Watch a portion of a Civil War Documentary.

·         Take Notes, Pause, & Discuss.

HW:  Read 30 minutes & log it.  Work on Lit. Circle Questions (due Mon. 2/16).

 

Friday, 2/13/15.

Academic Field Day!

·         Students get to wear Pajamas to school, and will get to spend time in each of the four 5th grade teachers’ classrooms, doing fun academic activities!

HW:  Read 30 minutes & log it. Get Reading Log signed.  Lit Circle Assignment #2 due Monday.
