Monday, 02/13/17

Furnari – Library

·         I will introduce Wordly Wise Unit 15 with a PowerPoint and discussion, and we will begin 15A.

·         We will review “Frozen Frogs/Long Live the Tree” STAAR Release, the non-fiction paired selection students worked on this week.  We will go over main idea, reading graphs and charts, and making connections.

Work Stations

·         Complete A Picture of Freedom Section 2 Open Book QUIZ.

·         Work on Differentiated STAAR Prep Passage.

·         Work on the Story of Chocolate Brochure.

·         Work on Unit 15 Wordly Wise Exercises.

·         Work on Weekly Spelling Activities.

HW: Finish Wordly Wise Exercise 15A.  Read for 30 minutes.

 

Tuesday, 02/14/17

Valentine’s Day 4-Way Switch & Pajama Day

·         Furnari’s Station

We will correct WW 15A, and begin 15B.

Students will get to complete Fun Word Games, such as Hink Pinks, Rebus Puzzles, Free Rice Vocab. Game, and Text Twist.

·         Weiman’s Station

Students will get to act out the causes of the Civil War in a creative way, as well as the beginning of the battles of the War.

Students will get to read the book of their choice.

Wednesday, 02/15/17

·         We will correct Wordly Wise 15B, and begin 15E. 

·         We will continue our second in-class novel A Picture of Freedom.  They will write in their notebooks, reflecting on what has happened thus far in the story, and predict what they think will happen next.  They will have the opportunity to share their responses with their classmates.  We will then continue reading the novel, pausing for questions and discussion.

·         Students will complete a Differentiated Reading Review activity.  They will either write a three-paragraph review of a book they have read this year, or they will choose two books they have read this year, and find a creative way to combine them.  They will then write a review of their book they created.

Work Stations

·         Begin Section 3 – A Picture of Freedom Questions & Vocabulary.

·         Work on Differentiated STAAR Prep Passage.

·         Work on the Story of Chocolate Brochure.

·         Work on Unit 15 Wordly Wise Exercises.

·         Work on Weekly Spelling Activities.

HW: Read for 30 minutes. Study for spelling test TOMORROW.

 

Thursday, 02/16/17

·         We will correct Wordly Wise 15E, and begin Exercise 15D.

·         Students will choose a character from the A Picture of Freedom. They will decide if this character is dynamic or static, and we will discuss the growth of the dynamic characters.  Students will then complete a character map, identifying 4 of their character traits, and providing text evidence for each trait.  We will also continue reading the book, pausing for questions and discussion.

Work Stations

·         Complete Spelling Test.

·         Work on Differentiated Book Review writing assignment.

·         Work on Differentiated STAAR Prep Passage.

·         Work on the Story of Chocolate Brochure.

·         Work on Unit 15 Wordly Wise Exercises.

HW: Finish Wordly Wise 15D.  Read for 30 minutes.  Wordly Wise QUIZ TOMORROW.

 

Friday, 02/17/17

Weiman—Library

·         I will pass out weekly spelling word lists, and spelling work menus.  Spelling Test will be on Thursday, 2/23.

·         We will correct Wordly Wise 15D, write total grade, and turn in Wordly Wise Pages.

Work Stations

·         Work on Section 3 – A Picture of Freedom Questions & Vocabulary.

·         Complete Wordly Wise Quiz.

·         Complete Differentiated Book Review writing assignment.

·         Complete Differentiated STAAR Prep Passage.

·         Work on the Story of Chocolate Brochure.

·         Work on Unit 15 Wordly Wise Exercises.

HW:  Read and Rest.
