 This week, we will:

 

Monday, 03/20/17

Furnari – Library

·         Power Hour (9-10 a.m., 1-2 p.m.): Students will be seated in differentiated groups, working on Fiction Passages.  They will practice their strategies, summarizing and highlighting key words.  Students will also answer questions about the characters, plot events, making inferences, and conflict.

·         I will introduce Wordly Wise Unit 19 with a PowerPoint and discussion, and we will begin 19A & B.

·         We will review “Carl Is on the Case” STAAR Release.  We will go over inferencing, drawing conclusions, vocabulary, summarizing, and the elements of Drama.

Work Stations

·         Work on Unit 19 Wordly Wise Exercises WW19A & B.

·         Work on Lit. Circle Assignment #1, due Friday, March 31st.

HW: Finish Wordly Wise Exercise 19B.  Read for 30 minutes.

 

Tuesday, 03/21/17

·         We will correct WW 19A & B, and begin 19E.

·         Power Hour (9-10 a.m., 1-2 p.m.): Students will be seated in differentiated groups, working on Fiction Passages.  They will practice their strategies, summarizing and highlighting key words.  Students will also answer questions about the characters, plot events, making inferences, and conflict.

·         We will do a warm up where students determine if a statement is fact or persuasive.   Students will review the elements of persuasive text.  They will participate in direct and guided instruction on how to spot persuasive techniques.

Work Stations

·         Work on Unit 19 Wordly Wise Exercises.

·         Work on “Persuasive, Please!” Practice.

·         Work on Lit. Circle Assignment #1, due Friday, March 31st.

Wednesday, 03/22/17

·         Power Hour (9-10 a.m., 1-2 p.m.): Students will be seated in differentiated groups, working on Drama Passages.  They will practice their strategies, summarizing and highlighting key words.  Students will also answer questions about the elements of drama, inferences, and theme.

·         We will correct WW 19E, and begin 19D.  

·         Students will work in small groups at different Social Studies stations.  They will do one round today.  They will be learning about Westward Expansion, Cowboys, Homesteaders, and Imperialism.

·         We will review the Persuasive practice students completed yesterday. 

Work Stations

·         Work on Unit 19 Wordly Wise Exercises.

·         Work on “A New Kind of Park for Medway”, a STAAR Release Persuasive passage.

·         Work on Lit. Circle Assignment #1, due Friday, March 31st.

HW: Finish Wordly Wise Exercise 19D.  Read for 30 minutes. Wordly Wise QUIZ TOMORROW.

 

Thursday, 03/23/17

·         We will correct WW 19D, and collect Unit 19 Wordly Wise Exercises.

·         Students will work in small groups at different Social Studies stations.  They will do two rounds today.  They will be learning about Westward Expansion, Cowboys, Homesteaders, and Imperialism.

Work Stations

·         Complete Wordly Wise Unit 19 Quiz.

·         Complete March I-station Assessment.

·         Work on “A New Kind of Park for Medway”, a STAAR Release Persuasive passage.

·         Work on Lit. Circle Assignment #1, due Friday, March 31st.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.  Field Day tomorrow!
