This week, we will:

 

Monday, 4/25/16

Art Day

·         I will introduce Unit 20 with a PowerPoint and discussion, and we will complete Exercise 20A.

·         We will do the Reader’s Theatre scripts of this story. Students will review answers to the questions about the Origin of the Seasons myth.

·         We will finish working through a powerpoint that looks at major causes, technology, and effects of World War I.  We will also read a poem and discuss symbolism as seen.

Work Stations

·         Work on Wordly Wise Exercises.

·         Work on Two Voice Poems, due Friday.

·         Read quietly, and work on Time for Kids (TFK) worksheets (due Friday).

HW: Read 30 minutes. Finish WW Ex. 20 A.

 

Tuesday, 4/26/16

Furnari--Library

·         We will correct 20A, and begin Exercise 20B.

·         We will discuss the 1920’s in America, a time of industrialization, booming businesses, and many cultural advancements.  Students will listen to music of the time period in small groups, discuss, and fill out a graphic organizer.

Work Stations

·         Take Origin of the Seasons Assessment.

·         Work on Wordly Wise Exercises.

·         Work on Two Voice Poems, due Friday.

·         Read quietly, and work on Time for Kids (TFK) worksheets (due Friday).

HW: Read 30 minutes.  Finish WW Ex. 20 B.  Study for Western Map Quiz TOMORROW. 

 

Wednesday, 4/27/16

·         We will correct 20B, and begin Exercise 20E.

·         We will read and annotate this famous Greek myth.  We will discuss theme, plot diagram, and characterization.  Students will answer comprehension questions. 

·         We will watch the next section of America The Story of Us, which is called “Bust”.  It will look at the Great Depression, its effects on the economy, the Dust Bowl, Roosevelt’s New Deal, Hoover Dam, Mt. Rushmore, and the looming World War II.  As we watch, we will pause to discuss.

Work Stations

·         Complete the Western Map Regions Quiz.

·         Work on “Echo and Narcissus” Questions.

·         Work on Wordly Wise Exercises.

·         Work on Two Voice Poems, due Friday.

·         Read quietly, and work on Time for Kids (TFK) worksheets (due Friday).

HW: Read 30 minutes.  Finish WW Ex. 20 E.

 

Thursday, 4/28/16

Weiman—Library

·         We will correct 20E, grade, and begin Exercise 20D.

·         We will begin working on our third map region of the United States, the Midwest region.  Students will fill out a map to study with, and will be quizzed on it on next Thursday, May 5th.

·         We will do the Reader’s Theatre scripts of this story. Students will review answers to the questions about this myth.

Work Stations

·         Work on Wordly Wise Exercises.

·         Work on Two Voice Poems, due tomorrow.

·         Work on IIM Project.

·         Read quietly, and work on Time for Kids (TFK) worksheets (due Friday).

HW: Read 30 minutes.  Finish WW Ex. 20 D.  Study for Wordly Wise Quiz TOMORROW.

 

Friday, 4/29/16

·         We will correct 20D, grade, and turn in Wordly Wise Pages.

·         Students will watch clips that demonstrate how life was in America during The Great Depression.

·         Students will peer review each other’s Two Voice Poems.  Students will be allowed to create illustrations for their Two Voice poems.

Work Stations

·         Complete Wordly Wise Quiz.

·         Complete “Echo and Narcissus” Assessment.

·         Work on IIM Project.

·         Read quietly.

HW: Read and rest.
