This week, we will:

 

Monday, 09/26/16

Library – Furnari

·          I will introduce Wordly Wise List 3 to the students using a Powerpoint presentation.  They will begin Wordly Wise Exercise 3A.

·          Watch Brain Pop on Test Taking Strategies.

·          Take Test Strategies notes—how to attack multiple choice questions and the text(s) that go with them.

·          We will discuss BOTR Ch. 14, which students read to self on Friday.  We will read BOTR Chapter 15, aloud together.

Work Stations

·          Read to self: BOTR, Ch. 16

·          Work on Wordly Wise (WW) 3A.

·          Work on Names/Nombres Mini Research Project.

·          Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Tuesday, 09/27/16

·          We will correct Wordly Wise 3A from their homework the previous day, and begin WW 3B. 

·          Students will work in groups to choose a picture book that is a part of the Literary Non-Fiction genre.  They will work together to identify the aspects of Literary Non-Fiction genre (subject, motivation/goal, challenge, etc.).

·          We will discuss BOTR Ch. 16, which students read to self on Monday.  We will read Chapter 17 aloud together.

Work Stations

·          Students will work on a Comprehension Check (Formative) for Ch. 5-17 of BOTR.

·          Work on WW 3B.

·          Work on Names/Nombres Mini Research Project.

·          Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Wednesday, 09/28/16

·          We will correct Wordly Wise 3B from their homework the previous day.  We will review how to complete Exercise E, which has students read a non-fiction passage and provide short answers to questions.

·          We will review the Social Studies textbook scavenger hunt students have worked on all week, and discuss concepts and content presented.

·          We will read BOTR Chapter 18, aloud together.

Work Stations

·          Students will begin working on a STAAR Release, which will have one Fiction passage and a Literary Non-Fiction passage.

·          Work on WW 3E.

·          Complete Comprehension Check for BOTR, Ch. 5-17.

·          Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Thursday, 09/29/16

·          We will correct Wordly Wise 3E from their homework the previous day. 

·          We will review the BOTR Comprehension Check for Ch. 5-17.  We will refer back to the book and clear up misunderstandings as needed.

·          We will read and discuss BOTR Ch. 19 aloud together.

Work Stations

·          Students will complete working on a STAAR Release

·          Work on WW 3D.

·          Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Study for Wordly Wise QUIZ tomorrow.  Read for 30 minutes.

 

Friday, 09/30/16

Library—Weiman

·          We will correct Wordly Wise 3D from their homework the previous day, and they will turn in their work from the week.

·          Students will watch video clips about Jamestown, and will compare/contrast information from multiple sources about Jamestown using a Triple Venn Diagram.

·          We will read and discuss BOTR Ch. 20 aloud together.

Work Stations

·          Students will complete Wordly Wise Quiz 3.

·          Students will read BOTR Ch. 21 independently.

·          Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW:  Read & Rest.
