Week of 09/28/15 - 10/02/15

This week, we will:

 

Monday, 9/28/15

Art Day

·         I will introduce Unit 5 with a PowerPoint and discussion, and we will complete Exercise 5A.

·         I will make sure students know their spelling groups, pass out weekly word lists, and spelling work menus.

·         We will correct and collect “Thank You, M’Am” Comprehension Check, pausing to clarify misunderstandings as needed.

·         We will read BOTR Chapter 10 Aloud, and we will pause to discuss as needed. 

Work Stations

·         Students will read Ch. 11 of BOTR on their own.

·         Begin Review of Reading STAAR Release from last week.

·         Begin discussing & setting Reading Goals.

·         Work on Travel Brochure for New Zealand or Indonesia (new due date Friday, 10/02).

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Finish WW 5A.  Work on Spelling (due Fri. 10/02).  Read for 30 minutes.

 

Tuesday, 9/29/15

Library – Furnari

·         We will correct 5A, and begin Exercise 5B.

·         We will take notes on how to correctly use Apostrophes, Commas, and Quotation Marks, and Begin Grammar Pages (due Wed. 10/07).

·         We will read BOTR Chapter 12 Aloud, and we will pause to discuss as needed. 

Work Stations

·         Students will read BOTR Chapter 13 independently, respond to a Quickwrite prompt, and create a plot diagram of one conflict thus far.

·         Continue/Finish Review of Reading STAAR Release from last week.

Wednesday, 9/30/15

Computer Lab

·         We will correct 5B, and begin Exercise 5E.

·         We will finish Grammar Notes as needed.

·         We will read BOTR Chapter 14 Aloud, and we will pause to discuss as needed. 

Work Stations

·         Students will read BOTR Chapter 15 independently, and will finish and share their plot diagrams from yesterday.

·         Work on Travel Brochure for New Zealand or Indonesia (new due date Friday, 10/02).

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Finish WW 5E.  Work on Spelling (due Fri. 10/02).  Read for 30 minutes.

 

 

Thursday, 10/01/15
Library – Weiman

·         We will correct 5E, and begin Exercise 5D.

·         We will read BOTR Chapter 16, and we will pause to discuss as needed. 

Work Stations

·         Students will read BOTR Chapter 17 independently, and will discuss types of conflict and characterization thus far.

·         Students will complete an open-book BOTR Comprehension Check for Ch. 5-17.

·         Work on Travel Brochure for New Zealand or Indonesia (new due date Friday, 10/02).

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Finish WW 5D, and Study for WW QUIZ.  Study for Spelling Test.  Read for 30 minutes.

 

Friday, 10/02/15

·         We will correct 5D, and turn in Wordly Wise Pages.

·         Students will watch video clips about Jamestown, and will compare/contrast information from multiple sources about Jamestown using a Triple Venn Diagram.

Work Stations

·         Complete the Wordly Wise Unit 5 QUIZ.

·         Complete a Words Their Way Weekly Spelling Test.

·         Finish the open-book BOTR Comprehension Check for Ch. 5-17.

·         Turn in Travel Brochure for New Zealand or Indonesia.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW:  Read & Rest.
