This week, we will:

 

Monday, 10/03/16

Library – Furnari

·         I will introduce Wordly Wise List 4 to the students using a PowerPoint presentation.  They will complete an exercise for homework.

·         We will review the STAAR Release that students took the previous week.  Students will record their data for how well they achieved on certain objectives, and what they need to work on.

·         Students will watch video clips about Jamestown, and will compare/contrast information from multiple sources about Jamestown using a Triple Venn Diagram.

Work Stations

·         Read to self: BOTR, Ch. 21.

·         Work on Wordly Wise (WW) 4A.

·         Begin packet on the English colonies of America.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.  Finish WW4A if not completed in class.

 

Tuesday, 10/04/16

·         We will correct Wordly Wise 4A from their homework the previous day. 

·         Students will work together to create a simple sketch of a main character.  They will discuss aspects of their personality and actions, as revealed in the novel. Students will begin a character map for a character from Blood on the River.  They will need to choose 4 Adjectives of Personality, and provide text evidence for that adjective.

·         We will discuss Ch. 21, which students read to self on Monday.  We will read Chapter 22 aloud together.

Work Stations

·         Read to self: BOTR, Ch. 23.

·         Work on WW 4B.

·         Work on packet on the English colonies of America.

·         Work on Character Map for BOTR Character.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.  Finish WW4A if not completed in class.

 

Wednesday, 10/05/16

·         We will correct Wordly Wise 4B from their homework the previous day.  We will review how to complete Exercise E, which has students read a non-fiction passage and provide short answers to questions.

·         Students will work together in groups to identify an example of the 4 types of conflicts, as seen in the novel.  Students will begin a Plot Diagram for a character from Blood on the River.  They will need to choose a conflict, and identify all aspects (rising action, setting, characters, climax, falling action, resolution).

·         We will discuss Ch. 23, which students read to self on Tuesday.  We will read BOTR Chapter 24, aloud together.

Work Stations

·         Read to self: BOTR, Ch. 25.

·         Work on WW 4E.

·         Work on packet on the English colonies of America.

·         Work on Character Map & Plot Diagram for BOTR Character.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: No Homework—Spirit Night at Jerry Built.

 

Thursday, 10/06/16

·         We will correct 4E from their homework the previous day. 

·         Students will work on a snapshot assessment that demonstrates their understanding of Literary Non-Fiction.

·         We will read and discuss Ch. 26 aloud together.

 

Work Stations

·         Work on WW 4D.

·         Work on packet on the English colonies of America.

·         Work on Character Map & Plot Diagram for BOTR Character.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Study for Wordly Wise QUIZ tomorrow.  Finish WW4D if not completed in class.  Read for 30 minutes.

 

Friday, 10/07/16

Library—Weiman

·         We will correct Wordly Wise 4D from their homework the previous day, and they will turn in their work from the week.

·         We will read and discuss Ch. 27 and the Afterword aloud together.

Work Stations

·         Students will complete Wordly Wise Quiz 4.

·         Students will complete their Character Map and Plot Diagram for BOTR.

·         Work on packet on the English colonies of America.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW:  Read & Rest.
