This week, we will:

 

Monday, 10/10/16

Library – Furnari

·         Students will receive their new leveled spelling list for the week.  We will discuss how they will need to complete 3 activities for the week, and the test will be on Friday.

·         Students will take notes on the four main types of sentences, and what end punctuation marks are to be used.

·         We will take an open-book BOTR Final Test.  Students will answer comprehension questions from chapters throughout the book, and they will be provided with page numbers on the test to find answers.

Work Stations

·         Work on Weekly Spelling Activities.

·         Complete packet on the English colonies of America.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Tuesday, 10/11/16

Early Dismissal: 12:30 p.m.

·         We will begin watching the feature film, Pocahontas.  As we watch, we will pause and discuss.  We will also complete an activity which has the students discover which aspects of the film are fictional, and what actually happened historically.

·         Students will begin working on an assignment for IFest.  They will each create a brochure persuading visitors to visit their Passport Global country. 

Work Stations

·         Work on Weekly Spelling Activities.

·         Complete packet on the English colonies of America.

·         Work on Travel Brochure Project.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Read for 30 minutes each day.

 

Wednesday, 10/12/16

No School—Fall Holiday

 

Thursday, 10/13/16

·         Students will choose a book they have read since the beginning of the school year.  They will write a one page review, and choose whether to persuade people to read it or not.

·         We will continue watching the feature film, Pocahontas.  As we watch, we will pause and discuss.  We will also complete an activity which has the students discover which aspects of the film are fictional, and what actually happened historically.

·         Students will complete a lyrical analysis on “Colors of the Wind”, one of the theme songs from the movie.  This will also serve as a pre-assessment for Poetry.

Work Stations

·         Work on Weekly Spelling Activities.

·         Work on Travel Brochure Project.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW: Study for Spelling Test tomorrow.  Read for 30 minutes.

 

Friday, 10/14/16

Library—Weiman

·         We will review a packet of information on the English Colonies that the students have been working on this past week.

·         We will read an article called “A Barbie-Doll Pocahontas”.  Students will answer STAAR-like questions in the persuasive genre.

Work Stations

·         Complete Spelling Test #4.

·         Work on Travel Brochure Project.

·         Students may independently read a “good fit” book of their own choosing.

HW:  Read & Rest.
