This week, we will:

 

Monday, 11/9/15

Art Day

·         I will pass out weekly word lists, and spelling work menus.

·         We will discuss how students will need to complete the Review Puzzle for Lists 4-8 by Friday.  Students will also need to create 8 Frayer Models, for 2 words from each list.

·         We will review words that are commonly mistaken for one another: there, their, & they’re; it’s and its.  Students will create sentences for them.

Work Stations

  • Review notes and activities about the American Revolution.
  • Finish STAAR Release from the week prior.
  • Begin “Foul Shot” Poetry Analysis.
  • Work on Frayer Models for Wordly Wise.
  • Read Literature Circle book, and work on questions (Literature Circle Assignment due Thursday, 11/19).

HW:  American Revolution Test is TOMORROW.  Work on Spelling.  Read for 30 minutes.  Wordly Wise Frayer Models (8), and Review Puzzle for Lists 4-8 due Friday.

 

Tuesday, 11/10/15

Library – Furnari

·         Students will take an assessment that reviews content from the study of the causes and the war.  The assessment will have multiple choice as well as fill in the blank questions.

Work Stations

  • Complete “Foul Shot” Poetry Analysis.
  • Work on Frayer Models for Wordly Wise.
  • Work on Grammar exercises (due Friday).
  • Read Literature Circle book, and work on questions (Literature Circle Assignment #2 due Thursday, 11/19).

HW: Work on Spelling.  Read for 30 minutes.  Wordly Wise Frayer Models (8), and Review Puzzle for Lists 4-8 due Friday.

 

Wednesday, 11/11/15

Computer Lab Day

·         We will review the STAAR Release passages and continue to log on our goals sheet our progress towards TEKS.  We will go over the poem and the short story the students took that was from STAAR Release from the week prior.

·         We will review our answers to the “Foul Shot” Poetry, Analysis, looking poetic elements as seen in the poem and how they illustrate meaning.

HW: Work on Spelling.  Read for 30 minutes.  Wordly Wise Frayer Models (8), and Review Puzzle for Lists 4-8 due Friday.

 

Thursday, 11/12/15

·         We will review the test, and add important events to our timeline for American history.

 

·         Students will form groups of 2, 3, or 4 people.  They will be asked to choose a classic poem, which they will prepare to present to the class.  They will also create a poster interpreting their poem, as well as the poetic elements it includes. (Will be due November 23rd or 24th.)

·         We will review all grammar concepts learned so far this year: punctuation marks and important homophones.  Students will take a short quiz tomorrow.

  • Work on Grammar exercises (due Friday).

Friday, 11/13/15

·         We will correct the Review Puzzle for Lists 4-8, and turn it in.

·         We will discuss and take notes about the Articles of Confederation—America’s first try at a national government post-Revolution.

·         We will discuss the important aspects of the Northwest Ordinance, and students will make a graphic organizer, a “Hand Turkey”.

Work Stations

  • Complete a Words Their Way Weekly Spelling Test, and turn in Weekly Spelling Work.
  • Complete Grammar Quiz.
  • Read Literature Circle book, and work on questions (Literature Circle Assignment #2 due Thursday, 11/19).

HW:  Read & Rest.
