This week, we will:

 

Monday, 11/28/16

Library – Furnari

·         I will introduce Wordly Wise List 9 to the students using a PowerPoint presentation.  They will complete 9A for homework, due Tuesday.

·         We will review the answers to the American Revolution Unit Test that students completed the week before.  We will discuss key battles, events, and people of the Revolution.

·         We will discuss a project that has students work in small groups.  They will choose a classic poem to perform as Reader’s Theatre, and will also analyze on a poster. Students will choose their groups today.

Work Stations

·         Work on Wordly Wise (WW) 9A.

·         Work on Lit. Circle Assignment #2, due Thursday, 12/1 (Weiman) & Friday, 12/2 (Furnari).

·         Complete November Istation Assessment if not done yet.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Tuesday, 11/29/16

·         Students will learn about the Articles of Confederation, the original plan for the U.S. Government post American Revolution.  We will watch a BrainPop video, and take notes on the major strengths and weaknesses.

·         We will discuss a project that has students work in small groups.  They will choose a classic poem to perform as Reader’s Theatre, and will also analyze on a poster. Students will begin to choose their poem today.

·         Students will work on an assessment that demonstrates their understanding of Information Text, Poetry & Paired Selections.  They will read a passage about a type of cactus and a poem about a bird who lives in that cactus.  They will annotate the passages and show their strategies as they complete the questions.

Work Stations

·         Work on Lit. Circle Assignment #2, due Thursday, 12/1 (Weiman) & Friday, 12/2 (Furnari).

·         Complete November Istation Assessment if not done yet.

Wednesday, 11/30/16

·         We will correct Wordly Wise 9A from their homework Monday.

·         Students will have chosen their poem and will begin working on their poster.

·         Work on Lit. Circle Assignment #2, due TOMORROW (Weiman) & Friday, 12/2 (Furnari).

·         Work on “Shhh…We’re Writing the Constitution” Scavenger Hunt.

·         Complete November Istation Assessment if not done yet.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Thursday, 12/01/16

IOWA Testing:

·         We will correct Wordly Wise 9B from their homework the previous day.  Students will begin 9E, due Monday.

·         Students will work in groups on their poetry analysis poster and performance of their classic poem.

·         Ms. Weiman’s students will meet with their literature circle groups, and using their assignment discuss their book.  They will focus on personal connections, setting, character development, structure, and defining the genre of their book.   They will then turn in their assignment #2.

Work Stations

·         Work on WW 9E.

·         Complete “Shh… We’re Writing The Constitution” Scavenger Hunt”.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Friday, 12/02/16

IOWA Testing:

Library—Weiman

·         Ms. Furnari’s students will meet with their literature circle groups, and using their assignment discuss their book.  They will focus on personal connections, setting, character development, structure, and defining the genre of their book.   They will then turn in their assignment #2.

·         We will begin learning about the three branches of the federal government.

·         Students will work in groups on their poetry analysis poster and performance of their classic poem.

·         We will review answers to the scavenger hunt students completed on the writing and development of the U.S. Constitution.

Work Stations

·         Work on WW9E.
