 This week, we will:

 

Monday, 12/12/16

Library – Furnari

·          We will review Wordly Wise 10E, which had students read a non-fiction passage and answer questions about it.

·          In small groups, students will present a classic poem.  They will showcase the poem by performing it in Reader’s Theatre style, and then present their poster with the analysis of the poem.

·          We will review answers to questions based on a short passage about the Supreme Court that students completed over the weekend.  They will turn in passages on all three branches of governments.

·          We will review the three branches of the United States Government by completing a graphic organizer on the checks and balances system.

Work Stations

·          Work on Wordly Wise (WW) 10D.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.  Study for Wordly Wise QUIZ tomorrow.


Tuesday, 12/13/16

·          We will review Wordly Wise 10D, and students will turn in Wordly Wise 10.

·          In small groups, students will present a classic poem.  They will showcase the poem by performing it in Reader’s Theatre style, and then present their poster with the analysis of the poem.

·          Students will read about the first ten amendments of the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights.  We will discuss their importance and what they mean for the citizens of America.

Work Stations

·          Complete Wordly Wise Quiz 10.

·          Complete Bill of Rights reading assignment.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

                                                                                                                                                                     

Wednesday, 12/14/16

·          Students will do review exercises for Wordly Wise words we have done thus far this year.

·          In small groups, students will present a classic poem.  They will showcase the poem by performing it in Reader’s Theatre style, and then present their poster with the analysis of the poem.

·          Students will receive their new Literature Circle book and assignment.  We will discuss the requirements for the assignments, and they will need to read the first half of their book.  Their assignment will be due Friday, January 6th.

·          We will review the Bill of Rights, and students will work in small groups to illustrate each of the ten amendments that comprise them.

Work Stations

·          Finish and turn in missing assignments.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Thursday, 12/15/16

·          Students will compete in small groups in a game that reviews the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

·          Students will act out scripts about each of the branches of the federal government.  We will discuss how checks and balances plays out, and the necessity of having the three branches.

Work Stations

·          Finish and turn in missing assignments.

HW: Read for 30 minutes.

 

Friday, 12/16/16

Library—Weiman

Lunch in the Classroom

Winter Party: 12:30-2:00 p.m.

·          Students will learn about different Holiday traditions.  We will discuss the effect of holiday traditions on cultures, and students will write addressing a prompt.

HW:  Read & Rest.  Literature Circle Assignment #1 due Friday, January 6th.  Have a happy Winter Break J
